Mount Ephraim 10K 2015

First time I've covered this race.  Tough one with a good few hills starting and finishing at Mount Ephraim Gardens and taking in the pleasant lanes of Hernhill, just outside Faversham.

Folkestone Coastal 10K 2015

Gale force winds, low temperatures, driving rain and sheets of spume coming in off the sea greeted the runners for this ever popular race.  Despite that, the course record fell and many personal bests were registered, as over 550 runners turned out to brave the elements.

Harbour Wallbanger 2015

Grey skies and typical bank holiday weather gloom didn't put a dampener on this popular and unusual beach race.  Almost 150 runners turned out for the 8th annual Wallbanger, which was won comfortably by Tom Millard of Canterbury Harriers.

Podplus Ashford Marathon & Half Marathon 2015

New event for 2015.  Country lane course around the villages bordering Ashford.  Well organised race, with very friendly competitors.  This one is sure to return next year.

University of Kent Canterbury 10K 2015

Decent turnout for the inaugural University of Kent 10K.  Quite pleasant weather too, though the constant in-out sun made for difficult snapping conditions.  Nice scenic route along the Crab & Winkle Way seemed popular with the competitors and the event proved to be a great success.

Canterbury 10K 2015

First time I've covered this race.  Nice flat course starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Chartham near Canterbury.  Lots of potential for fast times.  Well organised event that seemed very popular with the competitors. Only real down side was the light, which was quite low and quite hazy, not ideal for snapping.

Lydd Half Marathon & 20 Mile 2015

Weather turned out to be lovely again in Lydd, as per last year.  With the new 20 miler taking place alongside the traditional half marathon, the field was about double that of previous years, with many using the new race as marathon preparation.  One of the best races I've covered, with very friendly runners.  Somewhat odd that the race started in the road, rather than in the field, as was the case in the past.

Ricki Savage Thanet 20 Mile Race 2015

The Thanet 20 returned after a year's break, in memory of Ricki Savage who tragically died at the age of 27 after taking part in the 2013 Dublin Marathon.  As ever, organisation was excellent.  The sun shone, though the competitors had a very strong wind to contend with.  Light was an issue, but then it always seems to be at any race I cover.  Nothing whatsoever to do with my own ineptitude with the camera, of course ;)

Headcorn Half Marathon 2015

This year's race built on the success of the inaugural event in 2014.  Turnout was up, the day turned out largely pleasant with good spells of sunshine & the unexpectedly fine weather was largely responsible for the race starting 10 minutes late as a surge of on-the-day entrants decided to take part.  Organisation was excellent again, and the general vibe was superb, with very friendly competitors and marshals.

Kent Fitness League 2014/15 - Rd 7 - Rough Common, Canterbury

A nail biting finish saw Craig Sharp of Dartford Harriers narrowly beat Thanet's Noel Sutton to the overall KFL 2014/15 title, with Deal Tri's Jill Cliff confirmed as ladies champion despite not running at Canterbury.

Thanet Mountain Bike Duathlon 2015

A day of sunshine but strong and chilly winds greeted the competitors.  The light was consistently difficult for snapping.  As ever, an enjoyable event to cover.

Kent Christmas Cracker 2014

A mixture of serious athletes and fun runners donned assorted festive outfits for the annual Christmas Cracker, which this year saw a record field of over 200 taking part.  The light was challenging, as it always seems to be for this race.

Alan Green 10 Miler 2014

A dull and frequently damp day with strong winds greeted the runners (and snappers) in Margate as 230 or so hardy souls took in the popular Alan Green Memorial 10 Mile race.

Poppy Half Marathon & Quarter Marathon 2014, Bexhill

It was a very windy!  There was so much foam whipped up by the wind along the promenade that it looked like it had been snowing.  But it was also mild and the sun shone much of the time, as around 1200 people took to the somewhat eccentric Bexhill course in aid of a wide variety of charities.

Deal 5 Miler 2014

Windy and very grey day, but the rain pretty much held off.  170 runners completed the race, which was won by Phil Hurst in the extremely fast time of 24min 26sec.

Canterbury Half Marathon 2014

It rained.  A lot.  Light was awful.  But the runners seemed to enjoy the challenge the difficult course and conditions offered.
