First time I've covered this race. Nice flat course starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Chartham near Canterbury. Lots of potential for fast times. Well organised event that seemed very popular with the competitors. Only real down side was the light, which was quite low and quite hazy, not ideal for snapping.

Pics from various road and off road races, mostly in Kent. Marathons, half marathons, duathlons, 10Ks, fun runs, charity races etc. You can view slideshows of each event here, below which is a link to the appropriate Picasa and/or Flickr gallery, where you can view and download full size images for free, should you so wish.

Canterbury 10 Mile Race 2015
Another big turnout for this popular race. Mostly snapped from a different vantage point this time, having been constantly impeded by traffic in previous years.

Canterbury Half Marathon 2014
It rained. A lot. Light was awful. But the runners seemed to enjoy the challenge the difficult course and conditions offered.

Beat The Bog spring 2014, Preston Court nr Canterbury
After the February event had to be cancelled owing to severe flooding following the ceaseless rain of winter, the bog once again paid host to a motley crew of muddy obstacle fans. As before, I was unable to get round many of the obstacles, largely due to the layout of course - you just can't cut across from one side to the other because of dykes and waterways.
But still enjoyed what I did see nonetheless, especially the zap trap (it probably has an official name - that bit where people are electrocuted hahahahaha). Got a bit too close to the action and when one poor sod got zapped, down he went and splattered mud all over me, much to the amusement of the nearby spectators ;)
The light was much better this time, after the abysmal virtual darkness of the previous BTB in November - but I still didn't manage anywhere near the kind of standard I hope for from my snaps. Maybe it'll be third time lucky. Meanwhile, here are some mainly mediocre pics.

Canterbury Half Marathon 2013
A large field of runners gathered on one of the hottest days of the year. The glorious sunshine was a welcome sight for the spectators, somewhat less so for the runners, many of whom were caught out by the intensity of the heat after forecasts suggested it would be many degrees lower than it turned out to be. Must have been particularly arduous going for poor old Bagpuss ;)

Stelling Minnis 10K 2013
Largely pleasant day for the quite small but very friendly and scenic Stelling Minnis 10K. Worth the trip just for the picturesque countryside around the village. Race was won by the familiar figure of Canterbury Harriers' Peter Hogben.

Beat The Bog 2013, Preston, Canterbury
Excellent event, very well organised, lots of mud, misery and water. Unfortunately the light was absolutely abysmal. Struggled to get any kind of reasonable shots. Auto focus constantly had issues nailing anything. Also was restricted to one small area of the course. Good knowledge of the area would have helped, as would a quad ;)
Still, the lunatics...erm...competitors seemed to enjoy themselves, as did the spectators. Decent turnout for a first event. Pretty sure there will be lots more to come from the people behind BTB 2013.

Great Valley Run 2012, Bishopsbourne
Fancy dress charity fun run starting and finishing at the Mermaid Inn, Bishopsbourne, in aid of Pilgrims Hospices. Just over 40 runners donned all manner of costumes and took to the lanes around the village for this post Xmas jaunt.

Stelling Minnis 10K 2012
The sun unexpectedly appeared, despite the poor forecast. Turned out lovely in the picturesque village of Stelling Minnis. I had to run half a mile to snap the runners coming in. I was in a worse state than most of the competitors ;)

Barretts Canterbury 10 Miler 2012
Heavy rain early on, but dried up pretty much for the race itself. Large field of approaching 1000 runners for one of the most popular races in Kent.
